you are not necessarily you, i am not necessarily i, the past is not really the past, the present is certainly not the present and the future is definitely questionable

poetry

reading poems is not that easy. you have to adjust your own harmony to someone else’s rhythm, and it often disturbs you, at least at first. you are not sure if it’s your sense of rhythm that’s having problems or if the stuff you are reading is not that good. on the other hand, writing poems is so much fun. all you have to do is to sense when the moment is coming, tune to it, and just write what it is you think you feel. i’d even say that the sadder the poem turns out, the more fun it gets to write it. you will not be happy with the result of your writing if you think about the words, about the melody of the poem. just feel listen and write.. if you can.. while you can..

a round of applause goes to my talented husband who made a little site to show off my long forgotten poetries. you are welcome to check them out if you have the patience to walk through something that may look like a never-ending vacuum of depression. i posted the majority of my poems choosing the ones that i think are interesting, or just have a sentimental value for me. the link is http://laura.ericmeier.com/poetry/

So glad you put these up. I love the fact that they are so long and are in multiple parts. I'm working on a long one myself but it's hard! I really like them (I only read the English ones). They're really raw and emotional. I like how you bring the reader into the poem...very interesting technique. I like all four, especcially Dreams and Story for Bibi =)

i thought that the broken-english ones would be difficult for you to like;) you should at least read the one about you from the russian stuff:) and there are really no techniques, it just the way it used to come out.

oh, and the story for bibi is a true story - i was reading it on the podium of the cash register, people applauded and asked me for copies:)

I will definitely try to read the russian ones but i need to devote some time to that bc that will be a challenge

the english ones aren't that broken englishy actually, if anything they little grammar things here and there add to the tone and texture of the poem.

and about your second comment -- that is so cool!!

P.S. I put up a new one on my blog

Ksen,

I think you should read this one:
Lvov
* 1987
o Моя сестричка Ксенька

:-) I got honorable mention in it too :-)

I read through a lot of your earlier poems, they are very profound.

Can't wait to read more!

P.S. for someone that tries so hard to hide your identity, you picked a good name for the site :-)

it's not as much about anonymity as it is about rules;) and i would pick a diff name but we already had this and it is paid for so let it be.

LOL yeah L told me about that one =) I will read all of them when I have the time and the inclination to read cyrillic. All those extra letters!!!

And it's all about the rules. The first rule is we don't mention this site owner's name. The second rule is, we don't mention the site owner's name. When a conversation gets to confusing the conversation is OVER. Unlimited number of people to a conversation. Any number of conversations at a time. Shirts and shoes PLEASE! Conversations can go as long as they have to. If it's your first time on this blog you have to post.

Or not. Haha.
